POD#4: 3 am Updates

Luke continues to make about 3cc of urine per hour!! Now, we need to get selfish and pray for LOTS of urine every hour so he can really start to deflate. Dialysis continues hourly as well but some of the dialysis fluid is leaking around the catheter at the site it enters his abdomen. Pray that this leaking stops--it makes the dressings messy, they are weighing the dressings to get an estimate of how much is leaking out vs. how much is in the tubes but it is more accurate, of course, to have it come out in the collection bag. They have to make sure that more is coming out than going in because we don't want it to become ANOTHER source of extra fluid! His other "numbers" have looked a bit better. It was pointed out to us that yesterday was National Kidney Day--so a very appropriate day to be praying for kidneys. I keep hoping for dramatic improvements over a few hours but need to be patient and thankful for the baby steps we are taking. I just want this fluid off so we can get his chest closed so they can wean him off of the vent so that...OK, I'll stop. Baby steps for my baby.

Holly & Justin,
It's the old adage: Slow and STEADY wins the race. Praying for you this morning.... was reading in Psalm 139 today, "All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Praise the Lord that he our Sovereign God, in total control of every heartbeat and breath. We are thanking God for Luke's progress and forward movement this morning.
Our Love,
Heidi, and family

Yeah for another morning!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing Luke's progress. That is the first thing I do each morning before I begin my day . I pray that progress comes quick for you today.......quick baby steps. Ephisians 1:20 says " Now to Him who by the power that is at work within us, is able to do superabundantly, far over and above all that we ask or think." My prayers continue to be with you all.....

National Kidney Day, huh? Luke, what a way to celebrate. Cheers for pee! We are so glad you made it through another night and will be praying today for the leak you have sprung to STOP.
I read a very encouraging passage this morning in Isaiah 40:28-31 I hope it gives you new strength.
"...Don't you know the Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. Noone can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak...those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
Tired..worn out..weary..waiting?
Good news! You are the prime target of HIS strength. May it be very tangible to you today and in the days ahead.

Good morning from your Princeton Estates neighbors. We are checking this site obsessively (is that a word?) to see how things are going. It is great that you are keeping this blog site. You celebrate those "baby steps"... It is those tiny accomplishments that will keep you full of hope in what God is doing in Luke's tiny world. Each moment, each day, Luke is getting stronger and you will remember it all. My advice... keep a journal of all of this. It is a great source of stregth and one day you will love reading him all of his trials. Drake and I are praying for your peace and strength with each up and down you are facing. Call us if you need anything..

Good Morning Holly and Justin, We comtinue to pray for Little Luke's kidneys. I am praying for much progress each and every day. We will be coming up tomorrow to visit. Is there ANYTHING you need for us to bring you? We would love to take Zach for a bit if that would help? Lamentations 3:22-24 "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every monring; great is thy faithfulness. I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."
